Cold Cannabis Coffee A DIY Recipe To Get You Up and Keep You Going

Cannabis and coffee are popular across the globe! Some of us rely on the ever-faithful wake-and-bake to get us out of bed, while others prefer caffeine to get going. Although not much study has been done in the field it is thought that caffeine could prolong the effects of cannabis, more specifically of the psychoactive THC. Cold Cannabis Coffee is a delicious motivation to get up, and keep going!

Caffeine and cannabis are both responsible for the happy-hormone Dopamine. A study published during 2017 in the journal Annals of Neuroscience, suggests combining the two could create an increased sense of euphoria for some consumers. One fact we do know for sure, cannabis affects everyone differently. Each person’s endocannabinoid system is about as unique as the impression left by their fingerprints.

Smoking vs Ingesting

When smoking cannabis it enters the bloodstream fairly quickly, whereas the liver is largely responsible for metabolizing the compounds in the holy ‘erb. Pretty much the same happens when consuming caffeine, which might pose a potential risk to liver health.

Iced coffee is a type of coffee beverage served chilled. It is normally made from hot brew coffee which has been cooled by pouring it over ice or into ice-cold milk. Sweeteners and flavouring are often added into the hot coffee before cooling it, because they dissolve easier in hot liquid. The coffee base is generally brewed at a higher strength, due to the dilution caused when pouring the hot coffee over the ice.

The first documented iced coffee was known as Mazagran, prepared with coffee syrup and cold water. It was referred to as ‘the original iced coffee’ by Algerians in the 1840s. It was first popularized in the 1920s in the United States by the Joint Coffee Trade Publicity Committee (JCTPC) and later marketed by chain outlets like Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts and Starbucks.

Iced coffee has been popular across the globe for some time now and, as with most things, each culture has put its unique stamp on versions of this refreshing libation. The Portuguese serve theirs with lemon, and rum on celebratory occasions. During the summer months in Chile, they serve Cafe Helado, which is made with strong  coffee, ice cream and dulce de leche topped with whipped cream and nuts
