Pairing Prawn Dumplings With Chenin Blanc

Pairing prawn dumplings with Chenin Blanc is like matchmaking for your taste buds! Imagine a thirsty prawn, all dressed up in its savory outfit, ready to dance with a glass of Chenin Blanc that’s like, “Hey there, I’ve got fruity notes and enough acidity to keep things fresh!” As they twirl around together, the acidity hits those dumplings like a pep talk from a motivational speaker, reminding them that they are, in fact, fabulous.

So grab your dumplings, pour yourself a glass of Rietvallei Chenin Blanc and let the flavor fiesta begin – just make sure you don’t let the prawn know it’s about to be consumed; we wouldn’t want it getting cold feet!

Pairing prawn dumplings with Rietvallei Chenin Blanc is a delightful match for your taste buds, likened to a dance between the savory dumpling and the fruity, bubbly wine. The wine’s acidity enhances the flavor of the dumplings, making them feel fabulous. So, grab your dumplings and a glass of Chenin Blanc for a flavorful experience, but keep it a secret from the prawn!

Ingredients

  • 300 g prawn meat, peeled, deveined, finely chopped

  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed.

  • 1 Tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 Tbsp chives, freshly chopped

  • 1 small red chilli, finely chopped

  • 15 dumpling wrappers

Directions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly so it’s well combined.
  • Place the dumpling wrappers on a flat surface. Spoon 2 teaspoons of the mixture onto the centre of each wrapper. Brush edges with cold water. Fold up sides to form a round pouch. Pinch to enclose filling. Place on a tray lined with baking paper.
  • Place a steamer lined with baking paper over simmering water. Cook dumplings for 10 to 15 minutes or until tender and cooked through. If you do not own a steamer, you can add enough water to fill the surface of a large pot or pan and add the dumplings directly in pot or pan and place a lid, also cook for 10 to 15 min.
  • Serve with low salt soy sauce to dip your dumplings in.
