  • Tony Greenhand Is A Master Joint Engineer Credited With Making A World Record Sized Watermelon Shaped Joint

Tony Greenhand Is A Master Joint Engineer Credited With Making A World Record Sized Watermelon Shaped Joint

Have you ever wondered what the world record is for the biggest joint ever rolled, and what exactly this joint would look like? Look no further stoned citizens the answer lies with a fairly peculiar gentleman who designed and constructed a fully-smokeable watermelon-shaped joint that weighed nearly two kilograms! Tony Greenhand is a highly praised creator of the most sophisticated and extravagant joints known to humankind. He has had his hand at joints resembling everything from an AK-47 to a collection of Pokemon characters, food items and celebrity figurines.

    Bulbasaur Joint

Tony Greenhand is well known as the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) at rolling incredible joints! He has created thousands of phenomenal pieces of art, just to go up in smoke as it is celebrated. Some people have some serious money to burn and are willing to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a custom-designed Smokeable Art piece by Tony Greenhand.

I personally find it difficult to choose my favourite creation amongst his Instagram portfolio. We take a deeper look at who the man behind the green hands are and admire some of our favourite pieces.

    THE MAN

Tony Greenhand is a pseudonym that had started during his high school years after his friends constantly insisted he looked like Tony Danza. In fact, everybody except his father calls him Tony! Greenhand was added later on when Tony had to choose an alias to participate in online forums and social media platforms.

Tony Greenhand is an expert joint engineer, cannabis breeder and cannabis entrepreneur from Oregon, in the USA. He most recently added acting to his growing list of accomplishments as he stars alongside Jonah Hill, Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara in Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot.

    Tony Greenhand

His girlfriend is a pot photographer and Instagram influencer who spends her creative time making interesting trinkets from hemp leaves she collects from their garden. The pair met at the Colorado High Times Cannabis Cup in 2014 when She won a Greenhand joint in a social media competition. On their first date, Tony presented her with an elaborate joint that looked just like a rose!

In 2020 Greenhand partnered with Quibi to release a docu-series called Let’s Roll With Tony Greenhand. Each episode sees the hilarious Greenhand meet up with a notorious celebrity stoner to create wild smokeable creations and then actually light it up.

He is truly passionate about creating art that builds community and increases awareness around the ever-evolving cannabis culture. Tony is devoted to being THE joint specialist and constantly pushing to up his game and create bigger and better designs. His creativity and dedication to creating out-of-this-world smokeable pieces have attracted celebrity clients like B.o.B., Rihanna, 2 Chainz and Tommy Chong.

    HOW IT STARTED

Tony was about 16-years-old when he had his first experience smoking cannabis, he would not however be trusted with the duty of rolling a joint for another two years. According to the man himself, his first attempt at rolling a joint was a thirty-minute battle that delivered an unsmokable joint. He was determined, however, to master the art of rolling the perfect joint. Tony bought an ounce of weed, which is 28 grams, and spent the weekend teaching himself; rolling all the joints at a house party with his friends.

    Rolling Joints

In a recent interview with Vice, Tony was asked how he got into creating smokeable art: “When I was young, I used to work with clay and wood and stuff, and then I started growing a lot of weed. It became sort of impractical to keep doing the other stuff, but I really liked to be creative.”. He went on to discuss the evolution of his art, it started with practising to make cross-joints and windmill-joints, and later advanced to rocket ships, animals and even a likeness of Mike Tyson eating a giant avocado!

The first piece Tony was ever commissioned for, was to create a Sherlock Holmes Pipe for a friend. The final piece was so impressive that a friend eventually persuaded him to post a picture of the unique art piece on Reddit. Tony received such great feedback that he was instantly motivated to create bigger and more elaborate smokeable pieces. Today, Tony has nearly 400k followers on Instagram; who are constantly finding themselves eagerly anticipating his next post.

    THE ART

A custom Tony Greenhand joint could cost you anything between 300 and 10 000 dollars depending on the size and design. He will create joints for any occasion and is happily challenged by the requests his clients put to him. Because of the Federal legal status of cannabis in the US, his clients generally fly in to meet with him, or actually fly in Greenhand to create their personal art pieces.

Just like any artist, Tony has a preference when it comes the materials he uses to create his masterpieces. He prefers to use San Andres wrappers, Grabba Leaf or Vibes Papers to create his special joints, which are held together with a plant-based smoke-safe adhesive powder. Tony applies the final touches by using natural dyes to create colour and dimension.

Greenhand has recently announced his future plans which I am sure includes amazing and elusive joints! It has been rumoured he once built a 20-kilogram Statue of Liberty joint that had to be mounted to a custom metal frame with a built-in fan. Apparently, the plan was to hotbox an entire venue with the almost three-meter tall statue-like joint. For whatever reason that did not happen, I am looking forward to what those green hands have installed next!

  • Robert Downey Jr Backs Multimillion-Dollar Vegan Bacon Business

Robert Downey Jr Backs Multimillion-Dollar Vegan Bacon Business

Robert Downey Jr is throwing his cash behind plant-based products, or to be more specific – vegan bacon. The renounced stoner and Hollywood celebrity has invested in Atlast Food Co, a vegan start-up that replicates bacon by using mycelium – a fiber found in mushrooms.

The plant-based meat company and start-up secured a $40 million investment to improve production of its sell-out MyBacon products.

“The Godfather” ( as nicknamed by Spider-man) used money from his investment fund Footpront Coalition Ventures to back the vegan venture. The cash injection will fund the production of mycelium in the world’s largest aerial farm, based in New York.

The Vegan Bacon Is Made from Six Ingredients

Bacon lovers who argue that vegan alternatives contain lots of unknown ingredients will be silenced when they hear MyBacon is made from rather natural ingredients mycelium, coconut oil, cane sugar, sea salt, beetroot juice and smoked flavours.

The main ingredient Mycelium has so far only been used to replicate leather as vegan alternatives to shoes, clothing and accessories, making Robert Downey Jr’s venture into the vegan bacon business noteworthy.

Iron Man Plans On Saving The Planet

Not so long ago, “Tony Stark” invested at least $10 million of his own money into the Footprint Coalition, an environmental initiative that aims to save the planet. Formed in 2019, the Footprint Coalition’s mission is to build the world’s most sustainable paper, ending global deforestation, and finding plastic alternatives.

To top that, the organization supports companies developing sustainable business models and technologies which aid in combating climate change.

The award-winning actor’s investment in the plant-based business is no coincidence either. In 2020, the actor hinted that he is switching to a vegan diet at the premiere of Dolittle premiere in Los Angeles.

“I make faces for cash and chicken. Even though no, I’m off chicken now. I’m going plant-based! For cash and legumes.”

    Robert Downey Jr.

While it’s not clear if Downey Jr. is 100% vegan, it is obvious that he is taking significant steps to help the environment.

  • 420 – What It Really Means And What Are The Origins Of The Global Smoking Time

420 – What It Really Means And What Are The Origins Of The Global Smoking Time

As we still find ourselves in a global pandemic many 420 celebrations have been put on hold or cancelled all together. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, as global leaders drive vaccination efforts.

    420 Civil Disobedience

Pronounced four-twenty, the phrase refers to getting high at four-twenty every day and is annually observed on 20 April. Historically many stoned citizens from around the world celebrate the day by gathering together in protest of the prohibition of cannabis by lighting up together in civil disobedience.

    420

There are a few rumoured stories and tall tales that have been told as to the exact origin of the term 420. These include that the number 420 is the exact amount of active compounds in marijuana, it has also been associated with ‘Tea Time’ in Holland and Rainy Day Woman by Bob Dylan.

The truth however was uncovered by Larry Sloman, aka Ratso, in his book Reefer Madness: A History of Marijuana, which was first published in 1979. According to Ratso the term 420 has roots from 1970 in California, by a bunch of teenagers who called themselves The Waldos.

    Smoking at 420

The group had gotten wind of an abandoned plot of land, that was supposedly owned by a Coast Guard service member, completely covered in marijuana plants that are ready to be harvested. One afternoon The Waldos set a meeting time for 4:20 PM to take on the treasure hunt for the promised land. After a few days searching the neighbourhood, the group never found the abundance of cannabis they were dreaming of, but they were constantly blazed throughout their adventures. The Waldos used the term 420 to discuss smoking weed, growing the plant or even making plans while casually roaming the school corridors.

Hunt continued day after day, they never found the rumoured treasure but the 420 stuck around and was a way of making marijuana plans or discussing smoking sessions. The waldos have their original 420 flag and letters that are postmarked where they used the phrase 420, proving they indeed did coin the phrase in the 1970s.

    GLOBAL REACH

It was most probably the band The Grateful Dead that first introduced 420 to their audiences while touring the United States and later the globe. The older brother of one of The Waldos was friends with the band. They often joined the band for smoking sessions during the 70s, at their rehearsal lounge in California.

    Pass the Dutchie

In 1990 Steven Bloom was a reporter for High Times Magazine at the time. On Christmas day, he was wandering through the parking lot at the venue where The Grateful Dead was scheduled to perform. Steven was handed a flyer emblazoned with the set of numbers 420.

“We are going to meet at 4:20 on 4/20 for 420-ing in Marin County at the Bolinas Ridge sunset spot on Mt. Tamalpais. 420 started somewhere in San Rafael, California in the late ‘70s. It started as the police code for Marijuana Smoking in Progress. After local heads heard of the police call, they started using the expression 420 when referring to herb – Let’s Go 420, dude!”

High Times magazine later ensured that 420 would become an enduring phrase the world over with an article published in 1991. Steve Hager told the Huffington Post that he started incorporating it into everything they could.  “I started doing all these big events – the World Hemp Expo Extravaganza and the Cannabis Cup – and we built everything around 420. The publicity that High Times gave it is what made it an international thing. Until then, it was relatively confined to the Grateful Dead subculture. But we blew it out into an international phenomenon.”

    420 POP CULTURE

The phrase has been used in pop culture and counterculture alike since the 1990s. In the popular 1994 crime-thriller movie Pulp Fiction; all of the clocks are set to 4:20. The Medical Marijuana Bill, named SB420, was codified in 2003 in California. ‘420 Friendly’ is a marker used on listings for accommodation and venues which allow its patrons to smoke marijuana on site.

    Cross Joint

It has been reported that signs which include the number 420 are often stolen. In the USA there are a total of eleven 420 Mile Markers that need to be replaced so often they tried changing the marker to read 419.99, or 419.5 in some states.

The pandemic has changed, possibly forever, how we celebrate 420. But we are going to come up with bigger and better ways to be together and celebrate a day that is all about appreciation for Mary Jane. Check out this guide to Planning a Post Pandemic Pot Party

  • Bicycle Day – Celebrating LSD In Commemoration Of The First Ever Intentional Acid Trip And The Future of Psychedelics

Bicycle Day – Celebrating LSD In Commemoration Of The First Ever Intentional Acid Trip And The Future of Psychedelics

LSD, Acid, Blotter, Mellow Yellow or even Window Pane is a hallucinogenic drug that is used as a recreational party drug, spiritual awakening and self-actualisation.  Lysergic Acid Diethylamide was synthesized in 1938 by a Swiss chemist named Albert Hofmann, he was doing research into the medicinal properties of ergot alkaloid derivatives. Five years later, on 19 April 1943, the same chemist embarked on the world’s first deliberate hallucinogenic trip. Today, the 19th of April is celebrated as Bicycle Day, in commemoration of Hofmann, the discovery of his ‘Problem Child’ and the faithful bike ride that fueled the hippie movement.

Hunter S Thompson penned the following instructions for the enjoyment of Acid; “try half a cube at first, just sit in the living room and turn on the music – after the kids have gone to bed. But never take it in uncomfortable or socially tense situations. And don’t have anybody around whom you don’t like”.

LSD is a NON-ADDICTIVE mind-altering drug that affects your thoughts, feelings and awareness. Dependencies associated with LSD are brought on by the psychological dependence or need to experience the effects. Users generally start feeling the effects 30 minutes after consumption, which could last up to 20 hours. These effects include visual and auditory hallucinations, dilated pupils and increased body temperature. The recreational use of acid is very unpredictable and should always be taken with caution. Overdose deaths by LSD are not common, the most reported incidents are associated with accidental or reckless behaviour while under the influence.

    WHAT IS LSD

Lysergic Acid Diethylamide was created by Albert Hofmann in 1938 at the Sandoz Laboratories in Basel, Switzerland. The chemist made his discovery while investigating the medicinal value of lysergamide class compounds. A group of Amides of lysergic acids that includes compounds with potent agonist and antagonist activity in various serotonin and dopamine receptors.

Pure LSD is a crystalline clear liquid with no smell and a slightly bitter taste, produced in a laboratory using precursors that naturally occur in nature. It can be ingested orally as a capsule, tablet or soaked onto absorbent paper with colourful prints and cut into dosage units.

LSD, like other psychedelic substances such as Magic Mushrooms, Mescaline and DMT, has shown to be an effective therapy for individuals with treatment-resistant major depressive disorders. Psychedelic therapy has also proven to be a game-changer as a breakthrough treatment for addiction, depression and PTSD.

    LSD Can Treat Depression

    HOW DOES LSD WORK

It is thought that the characteristic hallucinogenic effects of Acid are caused when the drug interacts with the serotonin and dopamine receptors in the brain. The serotonin neurotransmitter is in charge of controlling your behaviour, general mood and moderate your thought of self-doubt. Dopamine on the other hand plays an important role in the motivational or expectancy component of reward-motivated behaviour.

    Find Your Happy Place

The LSD reaches the brain rapidly where it acts on the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS). Acid reacts differently from person to person, the golden rule of psychedelics is to always start low and go slow. The onset of effects can generally be felt 30 minutes to an hour after ingesting the drug, it can peak for two to four hours and could last for up to 12 hours or more. The extent of the effects is related to the dosage and frequency of use by an individual, meaning every person will experience the effects of a similar dosage differently.

HOW DOES LSD MAKE YOU FEEL

Generally, Acid makes you feel happy, creative and confident. You can hear colours and see sounds! The drug brings on bright hallucinations, heightened senses, increased awareness, mind expansion and euphoria. LSD can boost self-esteem, improve general mood and increase life satisfaction; and is also associated with improved social skills and behavioural challenges. A person that is ‘Tripping’ on Acid will have dilated pupils and experience fluctuating body temperatures, loss of appetite, sleeplessness and dry mouth.

    Bicycle Day Tripping On Acid

These effects are extremely subjective, meaning the experienced effects can vary significantly between two people. It is very important to make sure you fully understand the unpredictability of an Acid trip and to be fully prepared for the experience. Users have reported some adverse psychiatric reactions like anxiety, paranoia, delusions, fear and despair.

Acid might not be a viable therapy or choice of recreational drug for persons with underlying mental health conditions like schizophrenia or who are prone to psychosis.

Hofmann described his first experience with LSD: “ [I] sank into a not unpleasant, intoxicated-like condition characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination… I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors.”

    Hearing Colours, Seeing Sounds

    ALBERT HOFFMAN

Swiss Chemist, psychedelic pioneer, the first-ever psychonaut and reason we celebrate Bicycle Day. Albert Hofmann is best known as the first person to synthesize, ingest and experience the psychedelic effects of LSD. On 16 April 1943, Albert accidentally exposed himself to LSD. Albert was convinced, in retrospect, 20 micrograms of the synthesised compound was absorbed through his skin while working in his lab.

Three days later Hofmann intentionally took LSD. He wanted to confirm that it was indeed the synthesized Lysergic Acid Diethylamide that caused the strange physical and mental state he befound himself in just days before. Hofmann administered a dose stronger than he thought to have had the first time, got on his bicycle and started his journey home, from his lab. His experience later became the inspiration behind Bicycle Day.

    Bicycle Day

Hofmann reported his findings and introduced this new hallucinogenic drug to the world.  April 19th would later be known and celebrated by recreational acid users as Bicycle Day in commemoration of the first intentional exposure to LSD.

    LEGALITY

The 1971 United Nations Convention on Psychotropic Substances prohibited the use of LSD. All the countries that were party to the convention subsequently criminalized the production, distribution and use of the psychedelic. The convention allowed for controlled medical and scientific research of Acid in human subjects.

Just like most psychedelics, Acid remain strictly prohibited in most countries. Progressive countries have listed LSD as a controlled substance or decriminalized its use for medicinal or research purposes. Mexico decriminalized the possession of illegal drugs for immediate consumption and personal use in 2009. Ecuador on the other hand does not consider the recreational use of drugs as a criminal offence, but rather a public health concern. In February 2021 the state of Oregan in the US decriminalized the personal possession of small amounts of drugs including LSD.

    COUNTERCULTURE

The LSD counterculture of the day is well documented in the 1968 non-fiction book The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe. Albert Hubbard, Timothy Leary and Ken Kesey also had significantly contributed towards exposing the world to the new psychedelic. They publicly announced the extraordinary effects and benefits of LSD as a recreational drug.

Bicycle Day Counter Culture Hippie Bus

Ken experienced his first Acid trip while participating in a CIA program that exposed college students to the drug in the 1960s. The funding for the research was secured in order to investigate psychedelics as a companion to therapy for patients with alcohol addiction and severe depressive disorders. The study came to a complete halt when the DEA deemed LSD to have a high potential for abuse and have no legitimate medical use in 1965.

    THE LATEST RESEARCH

A recent study, published by the Department of Neuropsychology & Psychopharmacology at Maastricht University in the Netherlands reported evidence of a protracted analgesic effect of LSD. Subjects reported a decrease in the subjective experience of painfulness and unpleasantness. The data concluded that a 20 microgram dosage of LSD could reduce pain perception by 20% and that more research is required to fully investigate the medicinal benefits of LSD.

    Kaleidoscope Of Colours

Acid is being investigated as an alternative to pain management, to promote happiness and fully express general wellbeing and a healthier lifestyle. As many as 16 million people around the world have Opioid Use Disorder and often overdose due to the health hazards associated with long term opioid abuse. LSD could be the solution to a global pandemic!

In 2018 a study reported that recreational LSD use amongst American adults increased by 56% from 2015. There is still work to be done in the legalization of psychedelics. We need to do more research exploring the medicinal and recreational use of LSD. This mind-altering drug has the potential to be established as a life-changing therapy for individuals diagnosed with depression, addiction and PTSD.

On Bicycle Day we are grateful to the creator of synthesized LSD and his curiosity which led to the psychedelic bike ride that changed the face of psychedelics for good. We look back at the counter culture and all the Acid activists that have promoted its use as a recreational drug and the potential medicinal benefits it has as a therapy.

    See the Music

Have you tried Acid before? Are you interested in experiencing the psyche-sphere? According to Vice; this smartphone app promises to alter your consciousness and deliver an experience similar to an LSD trip. Bicycle Day plans made!

Towelie Sneakers – Adidas x South Park Colab Dropping April 20th

  • Autism Awareness Month And Why Medical Marijuana Matters!

Autism Awareness Month And Why Medical Marijuana Matters!

On the second day of the fourth month, the globe celebrates World Autism Awareness Day. A day to acknowledging the existence of autism and the roughly four million extraordinary individuals around the world living with the symptoms associated with an impacted nervous system. A day where universal landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the White House are emblazoned in blue lights in support of awareness and fairness for those with this lifelong developmental disability. A day to embrace autistic people and celebrate their unique qualities. We take a look at ASD and how medical marijuana matters!

    WHAT IS AUTISM

Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, is a lifelong developmental disorder that impairs social interactions and communication. ASD also covers the enormous scope of challenges associated with social skills, repetitive behaviour, speech and non-verbal communication. Autism currently affects one in every 54 children in the United States, which has increased by 10% from 2014.

    Autism Awareness

Individuals with ASD have a one-of-a-kind operating system, enabling them to process life and experiences in a unique way. Although researchers are still dumbfounded by ASD, they have concluded that the average autistic brain is larger than that of a person living without ASD. The scientist knows ASD affects the linkages between areas of the brain responsible for emotions, sensory input and executive functions. Another interesting finding is that boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with ASD than girls.

    AUTISM AWARENESS

    Autism Awareness Month

World Autism Awareness Day is observed annually on 2 April. The global observance was declared in 2007 during the United Nations General Assembly after the motion was tabled by the State of Qatar. WAAD shines a light on Autism Awareness and the growing global health crisis surrounding autism, increase the development of world knowledge and stress the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Moreso to celebrate the unique talents and skills of persons with autism.

    UNITED NATIONS

The UN hosted a virtual event on April 8 2021, with the goal to build a more inclusive and accessible world that recognises the contributions of all people, including those with disabilities like ASD. The global Covid-19 pandemic has created new challenges and obstacles for those initiatives lobbying for inclusivity for autistic persons. Creating a greater need for Autism Awareness! The silver lining is that we have been given the opportunity to completely reimagine the workplace, to create an environment that tolerable and strives for diversity, inclusion and equity.

    MEDICAL MARIJUANA

    Medical Marijuana

Cannabis has been used for its medicinal properties for millennia, with the earliest evidence dating as far back as 10 000 years. The emperor of China; Shen-Nung, who was also a pharmacologist, wrote a book containing the medical benefits of cannabis in 2737 BC. An ancient Egyptian medical papyrus, dating back to circa 1550 BC, is one of the oldest preserved medical documents. The 20-meter long scroll is filled with remedies and elixirs made from the cannabis plant.

By the end of the 19th-century cannabis was regulated as an illicit substance. The 1961 UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs scheduled cannabis as a schedule 1 substance, which means it was believed to have no accepted medical use.

The slow, yet ever-developing, re-legalization of cannabis for medicinal use has created opportunities for scientists and pharmacologists to conduct valuable and meaningful research. Which intern has led to the remarkable discoveries of cannabinoids, the human endocannabinoid system and how they work in relation to each other. The health and wellbeing benefits of medical marijuana are now available to more humans than 25-years ago.

    RESEARCH

    Autism Awareness Research

We have made a list of research that has been published on the efficacy of medical marijuana to alleviate the symptoms associated with ASD.

#1 Brief Report: Cannabidiol Rich Cannabis in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder and Severe Behavioural Problems

In October 2018 a retrospective feasibility study was published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, supporting the feasibility of CBD based cannabis trials in children with ASD. The study assessed the tolerability and efficacy of CBD rich medical cannabis in children with ASD, using the Caregiver Global Impression of Change (CGIC). Of the 60 patients who experienced adverse behaviours like sleep disturbances, irritability and loss of appetite; 61% reported greatly improved symptoms.

#2 Real-life Experience of Medical Cannabis Treatments on Autism: Analysis of Safety and Efficacy

This study was published in January 2019 in the US National Library Medicine. It was aimed at characterizing the epidemiology of ASD patients receiving medical cannabis treatment and describing its safety and efficacy. Data was collected, over two years, from 188 patients medicating with cannabis oil that had a CBD concentration of 30% and 1.5% THC. The study concluded that medical marijuana was well tolerated, safe and effective at relieving symptoms associated with ASD.

#3 Oral CBD Use in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorder to Treat Related Symptoms and Co-Morbidities

This study was published in the US National Library of Medicine in January 2019. The aim was to report on the experiences of parents who administer oral cannabinoids to their children with ASD. Under supervision, 53 children with a mean age of 11 received CBD treatment over an average of 66 days. Self-injury and rage attack improved by 68%, sleep-related issues improved by 71% and anxiety improved by 47%. This study did however have some negative feedback, with a small percentage reporting their symptoms had worsened.

#4 Effects of CBD Enriched Cannabis Sativa Extract on Autism Spectrum Disorder Symptoms

This observational study was published in October 2019 in the Frontiers in Neurology. The compassionate use of medical marijuana, with a CBD to THC ratio of 75:1, was observed in 18 patients with ASD. The patients reported ameliorated symptoms like seizures, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, sleep disorders, communication and social interaction skills. The results reported that CBD enriched extracts greatly improved ASD symptoms and substantially increase the quality of life for ASD patients and caretakers.

#5 Autism Spectrum Disorder and Medical Cannabis: Review and Clinical Experience

The results were published in the 35th volume of the Seminars in Pediatric Neurology in October 2020. It concluded that medical marijuana is well-tolerated and effective in easing the symptoms associated with ASD. Amongst the group, 91% of patients reported improved epilepsy and 60% had experienced less aggression and self-injury behaviour.

#6 Cannabinoid Treatment For Autism: A Proof-Of-Concept Randomized Trial

The latest research around cannabis and ASD was published on 3 February 2021 in the US National Library of Medicine. It was found that orally administered plant-derived cannabis extract is well tolerated and reduces disruptive behaviour in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Israeli researchers assessed the safety and efficacy of CBD dominant whole-plant extract and CBD dominant pure cannabinoids. The test was a randomized and placebo-controlled trial of 150 young people with ASD. The patients received one of the two extracts and the placebo at different stages during the trial. Disruptive behaviours, measured on the CGI-I scale, improved 48% in patients on whole plant extract and 38% in patients on pure cannabinoid.

    Medical Marijuana Matters

CBD rich cannabis treatments show great potential in decreasing disruptive behaviour associated with ASD. Researchers also observed weight loss amongst patients who had previously experienced excessive weight gain due to antipsychotic medication.

    Medical Marijuana

Cannabis has shown great potential in treating the life-altering symptoms associated with ASD. Researchers have the opportunity to study the effects of cannabis and how it can be utilized as a medicine for a wide range of ailments, disorders and generally increase the quality of life for those living with these conditions.
