Step aside CBD edibles! A company based in New Zealand has developed a sustainable alternative to meat.
Sustainable Foods will launch the world’s first hemp-based meat in early 2021 in partnership with the medical cannabis company Greenfern Industries.
The company already produces other plant-based meat substitutes, with some of them even contain hemp for nutritional value.
The developing team wasn’t focused on creating a meat substitute that would replicate meat in every way, but the taste of their hemp-based meat is said to be fairly similar to chicken.
All the hemp used for the meat substitute is locally sourced most of their plastic packaging is made from recycled materials.
A couple of product trials must still be conducted on the hemp-based meat, but they hope to launch their evriromentally-friendly product in early 2021.
