    Four Fun Fudge Facts

Here are some interesting fudge facts to nudge on:

ONE: The Americans claim fudge as their invention and say the popular confectionery dates back to the late 1880s when Emelyn Battersby Hartridge, a student at Vassar College in New York, wrote that a schoolmate’s cousin had made fudge in Baltimore and sold it for 40 cents a pound. She obtained the recipe, which consisted of four ingredients – sugar, cream, unsweetened chocolate and butter, and made 15 kilograms of it for a university auction.

Word of the sweet treat spread to other women’s colleges and different versions of the original recipe appeared with added ingredients such as marshmallows, molasses and vanilla extract.

Some think the fudge recipe was, in fact, copied from the Scots who were making a similar confectionery called “tablet” in the early 18th century and which consisted of sugar, condensed milk and butter.

TWO: The record for the largest slab of fudge in the world weighed over 2 600 kilograms and was crafted at the Northwest Fudge Factory in Ontario, Canada in 2010. Preparation took a week and contained vanilla, chocolate and maple flavours.

THREE: Mackinac Island, a tiny 9,8km² island in Michigan in the US, considers itself the fudge capital of the world with 14 fudge shops in the town with the oldest dating back to 1887. The island churns out over 4 535kgs of fudge daily during peak season and fudge makers ship in about 10 tons of sugar and 10 tons of butter to create and craft their products. Festivalgoers are referred to as “fudgies”.

FOUR: Mamie Eisenhower, the wife of the 34th US President, Ike Eisenhower, was a huge fudge fan and even crafted her own recipe, Mamie’s Million-Dollar Fudge, which included chopped nuts and marshmallows.

  • How To Make Dagga Vodka, Aka Green Dragon

How To Make Dagga Vodka, Aka Green Dragon

Disclaimer: This recipe is intended for educational/entertainment purposes only. We’d also like to kindly remind you that any marijuana purchased and consumed should be done legally and is consumed at your own risk.

The Green Dragon ranks as one of the more elusive DIY methods of getting high. The cannabis tincture is a simple enough concept but the methods of creating this weed vodka vary depending on who you ask.

From throwing stems into a half-full bottle of Smirnoff and letting it soak for a few weeks to speeding up the process by heating it in an oven, the recipe for Green Dragon depends on who’s making it. Looking to find the most straightforward, stoner-friendly recipe, we went with the soak-and-wait route.

For the extract, use alcohol of at least 60 proof — Bacardi, Smirnoff, etc. We went for Everclear at 151 proof. When your tincture is ready, it should be pretty potent. You can either use an eyedropper and place one or two drops under your tongue or in a drink. The high should kick in after 1 hour and last for 7 hours.

We suggest enjoying Green Dragon with a healthy dose of Aqua Teen Hunger Force. But hey, we aren’t your mamas, you do you boo.

Hot Cross Bun Jaffles With Bacon: A Sinful Easter Treat Worth Praying Over

Hot Cross Bun Jaffles is a sinful combo of two South African delicacies. Add some bacon to the mix and say a little prayer before you tuck into a deluxe Hot Cross Bun Jaffel oozing with cheese.

As iconic as Durban Poison and Nandos, Jaffles has been filling the tummies of many South African citizens before your Ouma’s Ouma was born. Be it high or stone-cold-sober, Jaffles seem to hit the spot every single time they present themselves on the rare occasion.

Outselling the pancake table at the church bazaar back in the 90s, Jaffles has gone from humble to gourmet over the years. Food bloggers and home cooks have shared some really delicious and seriously ridiculous fillings for Jaffles.

Hot Cross Bun Jaffles is by far one of the most unique versions of the cast-iron toastie floating around on the foodiesphere. Sinful or not, say a little prayer for the genius who created jaffels that taste like hot buns.

  • Stoner S’mores – A Cannabis-Infused Treat That Will Leave You Begging For ‘Some More’

Stoner S’mores – A Cannabis-Infused Treat That Will Leave You Begging For ‘Some More’

Few things are as great as a bunch of stoners arranged around a campfire, par-Toke-ing in the pleasures of Mary Jane and engaging in deep meaningful conversations. Except of course if somebody emerged with the ingredients to make Stoner S’mores! A cannabis-infused campfire classic that is quick to assemble, dopey and delicious.

    S’MORES

    Classic S'more

S’mores are a traditional campfire treat that is made by sandwiching toasted marshmallows and chocolate between two graham crackers. These delicious treats are so popular in the United States, Americans annually celebrate National S’more Day on August 10.

    Toasting Marshmallow For S'mores

Pressing two biscuits together with a molten marshmallow and chocolate centre was first documented in the early 1920s. The Tramping and Trailing With The Girl Scouts, a Scout’s guidebook that was published in 1927, was filled with tips and tricks for spending time in the wilderness. Amongst other recipes that can be prepared in the woods and cooked over an open flame is a recipe for ‘Some More’, a tasty treat that was said to make you want just that: SOME MORE!

    STONER S’MORES

    Assembling Stoner S'mores

Stoner S’mores are quick, easy and delicious! Although S’mores are traditionally made by toasting the marshmallows over a campfire, they can be made anywhere over an open flame. The marshmallow should be blistered and golden brown on the outside with a gooey melted centre. It is important to secure the marshmallow with a metal or wooden skewer, molten marshmallows can cause some serious burns, so be careful! The roasted marshmallow is then sandwiched between two graham crackers along with cannabis-infused chocolate sauce!

  • Cannabis Crème Brûlée – A Creamy Custard Dessert With A Hard Caramelized Top To Get Baked On

Cannabis Crème Brûlée – A Creamy Custard Dessert With A Hard Caramelized Top To Get Baked On

Dessert means something different to every individual, greatly impacted by culture, tradition and personal preference. I often find myself daydreaming of the decadent dessert that is made up of a chilled baked custard centre and a delicate caramel crust; the Crème brûlée. Also known as burned, burnt or Trinity cream; this dessert is a true mark of elegance and one of the hallmark desserts of Paris.

Admittedly, making this decadent dessert at home can be relatively intimidating, but it does not have to be! We have formulated an easy-to-follow recipe to make the perfect DIY Crème brûlée that is infused with cannabis, of course – Crème brû-Yay!

    CREME BRULEE

Crème brûlée is a French name that translates to burnt cream is a delicious dessert that has a rich custard base and is topped with a thin hard caramel layer, almost always served chilled. The pudding portion of this dessert should be trembling and tender, yet be rich and creamy. In contrast, the hard caramel layer should be evenly torched and distributed over the entire surface. When digging into this dessert the first step is to crack the caramelized layer with the back of a spoon and then digging straight down to get a spoonful of set custard centre and cracked caramel.

    Cannabis Creme Brulee Hero

The origin and history of the dessert called crème brûlée is vastly disputed, the earliest known recipe appears in the 1691 cookbook; Cuisinier Royal er Bourgeois by François Massialot. Some authors have suggested that it was inspired by the Crema Catalana, a virtually identical dessert with Spanish origins that date back to the 14th century. Crema Catalana first appeared in a cookbook in 1745 by Juan de Altamiras. The key difference between these similar desserts is that the Crema Catalana is made with milk and thickened with cornflour, whereas the French counterpart does not require a thickening agent as it is made with cream.

    CREME BRULEE DAY

    Eating crème brûlée

The United States celebrates these delectable baked custard desserts on National Crème Brûlée Day annually on July 27. Although the exact origin of the baked custard dessert is shrouded in mystery, Sirio Maccioni is said to be responsible for the popularization of the mouth-watering dessert in the USA during the 1980s. Celebrate this day of decadence the right way, by making your own crème brûlée. Or do a quick internet search for “Creme brulee near me” and go on a dessert run.

    CANNABIS CREME BRULEE

    Torching A Creme Brulee

There are a number of easy-to-follow recipes to make Crème brûlée at home, some recipes are specifically designed to be made in a crockpot, other recipes are designed to be dairy-free. If you have a recipe that works for you, you could very simply substitute the granulated sugar with cannabis sugar to turn this classic into a dopey dessert!

    CREME BRULEE CANNABIS STRAIN

Cannabis Strain Named After The Dessert

The very best marijuana strain to use in your cannabis-infused crème brûlée is Creme Brulee if you can get your hands on some of course! The Indica dominant strain is made by crossing Platinum Kush with OG Kush and Girl Scout Cookies. As the name suggests, Creme Brulee has a sweet dessert smell with earthy aromas and tones of vanilla, coffee and roasted nuts. The Creme Brulee strain will almost immediately calm you down and bring on a feeling of euphoria and complete relaxation; alleviating stress and eliminating anxiety. Although many stoned citizens have reported feeling energetic and uplifted, Creme Brulee could quickly become sedative and easily put you to sleep. Perfect for a dagga dessert!

  • Cook Like A Gangster: Make Spaghetti And Meatballs Like The Doggfather

Cook Like A Gangster: Make Spaghetti And Meatballs Like The Doggfather

Stirring a pot of extra-long noodles with one hand and holding a joint in the other, Snoop adds the ghetto to spaghetto. The Dogg takes a classic mobster recipe from the Godfather’s cookbook and show the mafia how to make spaghetti and meatballs like The DoggFather.

Snoop Dogg’s Spaghetti de la Hood serves as a shout-out to his homies. To cook like a gangster, one needs to understand that things are made a little different in the hood. While some prepare the sauce and pour it over the pasta and add the meatballs separately, “we ain’t got time for all that,” the Doggfather writes in his recipe book From Crook to Cook. Damn straight!! Work smarter, not harder, right!? This is ghetto gourmet at its best.

Take this drink and hit this weed

If you living the American Dream, then 19 Crimes Cali Red is the be-all-end-all wine to pour with a plate of Spaghetti de la Hood. For those who don’t, give praise and keep it real Dogg! SUPPORT LOCAL!!

As for the weed, exercise your freedom of choice. A joyful life is an individual creation that cannot be copied from a recipe.

If pasta is not your thing, you can make tacos with a soft touch like Snoop Dogg.
